1950s style Hawaiian sarong dress and matching bolero set, handmade by Lily Scarlet from Alfred Shaheen cotton fabric.
The fabric is from the Hawaiian Collection, designed by Alfred Shaheen for FreeSpirit and Westminster Fibers in 2009. The print is Coral Fantasy, with a turquoise ground, white coral-style pattern, black floral motifs and purple, orange and green accents.
The dress is made after a 1950s pattern and has a wrap front with sarong-style overskirt. The bodice is lined in orange and has boning at the sides and back. The halter strap is removable and attaches with buttons.
The matching bolero is lined and reversible, so it can be worn with either the printed side or the orange side showing. This is a one-off piece made from a limited piece of Alfred Shaheen fabric.
