1950s/1960s Black Wicker Handbag

Large vintage black wicker handbag, made in Hong Kong and dating from the late 1950s to 1960s. The bag has a rounded, structured shape and is made from tightly woven wicker. It closes at the front with a leather tab and metal turn-lock closure. The base is finished with metal studs, allowing the bag to stand upright.
The interior is lined with black plastic and has a checkered fabric panel with a zippered pocket. The bag is fitted with leather handles attached with metal rivets.
The label reads “Made expressly for Simon – Hand made in Hongkong,” indicating Hong Kong export production from the late 1950s to 1960s.

The wicker is in great condition and remains firm and intact. The leather handles show heavy wear and dryness, consistent with age, but are not cracked through or broken.
