Wonderful early 1960s handbag by Caron of Houston, Texas, with the original “Hand Decorated Original” label inside.
The front is richly decorated with two large appliqué butterflies surrounded by flowers and leaves, worked in fabric, sequins, glass beads and faceted stones in warm amber, brown, yellow and green tones. The neutral woven body gives all that decoration plenty of room without making the bag overly busy.
Gold tone metal frame with clasp closure and a double top handle in brown. The handle appears to be leather or leather-look material; I have not been able to determine this with certainty.
The interior is lined in dark fabric and has one zippered compartment.

In excellent vintage condition. The bag itself and the decorative work are beautifully preserved. There is some wear to the gold tone finish of the metal frame and hardware consistent with age.
