Beautiful wartime-era dress from the early 1940s, made of a black crinkle crepe with a treebark texture. The bodice features a contrasting smooth crepe insert at the chest, opening with press studs and decorated with subtle black jet glass beads. The dress has strong shoulders with built-in padding, a high set-in waist, and is constructed with darts and multiple pleats for shaping.
It closes at the side with a row of 8 press studs. The sleeves are long and slim, tapering to the wrist and finished with 6 self-covered buttons and loops. The eight-panel skirt creates movement without fullness. Additional details include bust darts, 2 x 4 pleats at the front and back waist, and original belt loops (belt not included).
