A sleeveless 1940s dress made from red rayon crepe with a floral print in blue and green. The dress has a Peter Pan collar and closes at the front with five fabric-covered buttons. At the left side, it closes with three press studs. The front features a small peplum detail that is secured into the seams.
Below the peplum, the skirt is gathered at the waist and falls into a wide, flared shape. The waist at the back is partially elasticated, allowing for some stretch. The dress has darts at the front and back, as well as bust darts. Belt loops,no belt. The skirt consists of three panels at the front and back. The dress has original sewn-in underarm pads.
Measurements:
• Bust 102 cm / 40.25"
• Waist 74 cm / 29" (stretches up to approx. 81 cm / 32")
• Hip 100 cm / 39.25" (measured below the peplum)
• Shoulder 19 cm / 7.5"
• Top length 43 cm / 17"
• Skirt length 66 cm / 26"
Size is medium.
In good condition with visible signs of age. The crepe shows general wear consistent with age, and the fabric is no longer completely crisp. The fabric buttons have some wear, and the underarm pads show discoloration/yellowing from age. There is a small dark mark on the fabric (see photo). It may be a stain or a weave irregularity. Despite the mentioned flaws, the dress still wears very well.
