1950s/60s Colorful Raffia Handbag

Large 1950s/60s handbag made from colorful woven raffia in a lovely geometric patchwork design. The bag has a trapezoid shape, a wooden frame and a loop-and-button closure. The sturdy handles are made from thick rope encased in clear plastic tubing, a typical mid-century construction detail. The base is made from pressed cardboard with metal feet.

In fair to good vintage condition with age-related wear. There is some fraying and uneven discoloration to several individual strands of raffia. The interior is ok, but has that distinctive old plastic smell.
