1950s Green Straw & Black Patent Leather Box Handbag

Fabulous 1950s hard-sided box handbag in green woven straw with glossy black patent leather trim and handles. The trapezoid-shaped bag has two rigid halves connected at the base and opens with a small metal turn-lock closure.

The interior is lined in bright red coated fabric and has an inner pocket.

• Handle drop: approx. 9 cm / 3 1/2”

Very good vintage condition overall. The metal turn-lock works but is somewhat stiff to open. The exterior presents nicely with age-related wear. A few stitches along the inner pocket have come loose. The black patent leather along the base is not attached along the full edge; this appears to be part of the construction, allowing the two rigid halves of the bag to open properly.
