1960s Wicker and Plastic Basket Handbag

Unusual late 1950s / early 1960s basket handbag made from wicker and woven plastic.
The sides are woven from translucent plastic over a wicker frame, while the lid, upper rim and base are made from natural wicker. The two handles are wrapped in bright red plastic and the bag has contrasting blue plastic details and closure.

The lid closes at the front with a blue loop that fastens around a matching blue button.

Approximately 25 cm / 9 3/4” wide, 19.5 cm / 7 3/4” high and 15 cm / 6” deep.
Handle drop from the top of the lid is approximately 14.5 cm / 5 3/4”.

In excellent vintage condition with only very light signs of age.
