S | 1930s/40s Film Frock Hollywood Red Rayon Crepe Peplum Dress with Gold Soutache

Orange-red rayon crepe dress, late 1930s to early 1940s, with gold-tone soutache around the large front keyhole, on the stand collar and at the cuffs. The cord has a metallic feel. The collar fastens at the back with a snap, and the dress closes with a long metal back zipper.

The long sleeves are gathered at the shoulders and into snap cuffs. The bodice has waist darts at the front and back, with folds running from the shoulders towards the bust. The peplum is sewn into the waist seam and sits slightly longer at the sides. The four-panel skirt has front and back darts, a slight flare and a back walking slit. Belt loops, no belt.

Label reads “Film Frock Sportswear, Hollywood, California.” Vintage label size 16.

In fair/good condition. The skirt is a slightly different shade of red from the bodice. There is a mark along the front edge of the peplum, with several marks on the front and back of the skirt and on the sleeves. The back walking slit has been lengthened slightly.
