Late 1930s/early 1940s wool day dress in brown and white gingham with a contrasting brown inset front panel. The dress has a flat collar, short sleeves with turned cuffs, and six fabric-covered buttons at the front. The waist is defined with a fixed belt in matching fabric and buckle. Shoulder pads are present, and the skirt is constructed in six panels.
The wool has a firm but flexible hand feel. There is visible discoloration in parts of the brown fabric, light wear near the buckle, and small marks at the back inner facing. The fabric shows some relaxation from age and wear. Structurally sound and wearable, but sold as found.
